I was recently (like today) watching a show on television about various beauty treatments and ideas of beauty from other countries. I sat in shock at how displeased we are so many times at our appearance. This is true for females, males, skinny, plump, good hair, bad hair, etc. We are obsessed with beauty and what we consider to be beautiful.
My heart quickly responded to the Lord. I wonder how sad He is when we are unhappy with what we look like and when we fret on our beauty? Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is also in the Eye of the Creator. Wow! I remembered what David wrote in the 139 Psalm "For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." When we were created God created us and knit us to stand and trust that we were made fearfully and wonderfully!! This of course brought a smile to my face and a sigh to my heart remembering this truth! I was then led to Proverbs 31, the wife of noble character, a lady I strive to become. In verse 30 it says, "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." How true is this!?! Trends and fashions may come in and out of style, weight may fluctuate, hair may change color or fall out altogether, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. I desire to be a woman to be praised!!
I just wanted to remind you (along with myself) that God has created us in His image. He loves us and adores us just the way we are. To the Creator we are beautiful!!! Behold Him, as He beholds you!
